chorus: she's a loud thinker, she's a loud thinker and she talks in a whisper all the time cover your brain up when she enters your room and if you can't stand logic then you're facing doom she's a loud thinker, she's a loud thinker and she talks in a whisper all the time listen to her ponder you can hear the gears grind maybe that's weird but that's how she was designed chorus: she's a loud thinker, she's a loud thinker and she talks in a whisper all the time bridge: as strange as it is, this paradox is very refreshing to see in a world of people who don't think at all she's a beautiful deportee now if your head hurts then stop complaining today quit running your mouth and the pain will go away chorus: she's a loud thinker, she's a loud thinker and she talks in a whisper all the time she's a loud thinker, she's a loud thinker and she talks in a whisper all the time

moving along unchecked avoiding the pitfalls in sight steering clear of every hint of a conflict or a fight carefully taking each step and trying hard not to upset the balance of consequence and the pungent feeling of regret chorus: but deep down inside no matter how much we hide we all need a swift kick in the pants to get us back in stride bridge: it's not so much a punishment for a crime that one commits it's just a slight correction when politeness briefly quits chorus: but deep down inside no matter how much we hide we all need a swift kick in the pants to get us back in stride the enemy is the behavior with its roots in selfishness and it happens to every one of us in spite of our success chorus: but deep down inside no matter how much we hide we all need a swift kick in the pants to get us back in stride

in the beginning it was shaky unsure and fearful was the way unexpected crises rising up seemed like every single day then the signs of settling down showed the boat rocked less from the waves coming out of your hiding for the first time and it looked like your confidence was saved chorus: don't you know everything will be fine by the end of the line all it takes is just a minor realign by the end of the line bridge: the storm is just a meal that feeds your fear makes you want to wither up and die but it's just like actors on tv pretending to make you feel that way while your life passes by chorus: don't you know everything will be fine by the end of the line all it takes is just a minor realign by the end of the line now as the sun sets on the ocean the worst of this is far behind you see there's no need to be afraid of the sudden and the undefined chorus: and you know everything will be fine by the end of the line all it takes is just a minor realign
4.
far away from the cities heading into the moonlight your mind is a projectile fired off into the night and the less you hear people say the more you hear your own thoughts their voices are covering up the gifts you've already got chorus: you're digging in the matter underneath all the chatter the distance makes 'em scatter then you're digging in the matter getting away is essential to your own peace of mind look at the things that disappear and the things that you find you carry so much weight from words that aren't even yours that when you see the right room you can't fit through the doors chorus: you're digging in the matter underneath all the chatter the distance makes 'em scatter then you're digging in the matter bridge: the way you isolate yourself looks harmful to everyone yet the ones who know themselves, that's what they've done so while the mosquitoes will buzz about your every move you can just laugh it off from the comfort of your groove chorus: you're digging in the matter underneath all the chatter the distance makes 'em scatter then you're digging in the matter
5.
questions and problems for you to inspect mental assault and battery challenges your intellect as you untie one knot more are quickly tied pushing you to insanity where body and mind collide chorus: turn off the brain and take a break sometimes you have to walk away spend some more time just being stupid after being so smart all day bridge: you can't solve every riddle that creeps up in your view and before it leaves you alone each one takes a piece of you running long past empty really messes with the scales when the balance is upset that's when the weighing fails chorus: turn off the brain and take a break sometimes you have to walk away spend some time just being stupid after being so smart all day chorus: turn off the brain and take a break sometimes you have to walk away spend some time just being stupid after being so smart all day
6.
chorus: when coffee talks it starves your ears when coffee talks clarity appears when coffee talks no distraction interferes when coffee talks just listen there's a busy world you dance in a nonstop flight to the chaos land you've got no time to sit and think no moment goes unplanned chorus: when coffee talks it starves your ears when coffee talks clarity appears when coffee talks no distraction interferes when coffee talks just listen the sun comes up and you move till it sets and everything is dark it's like driving a million miles but never stopping to park chorus: when coffee talks it starves your ears when coffee talks clarity appears when coffee talks no distraction interferes when coffee talks just listen bridge: yes you're missing out the more you try to control completely unaware of a great feast for your soul chorus: when coffee talks it starves your ears when coffee talks clarity appears when coffee talks no distraction interferes when coffee talks just listen

wouldn't you like to be in a world where the world wouldn't matter at all? wouldn't you like to climb up so high and not be so afraid to fall? wouldn't you like to leave yourself and abandon the cubicle for good? wouldn't you like a life with no worry and the belief that you really could? chorus: it's not always necessary to seek in order to find sometimes taking things away leaves you much more defined and if the eyes take in the sights and the ego fills the mind maybe it's better to make yourself metaphorically blind wouldn't you like to say goodbye to all the things that hold you down? wouldn't you like to find your place far away from the common ground? bridge: all you got to do is decide from all the viewpoints you see one of them is most like you and the rest of them are just debris so take a short stroll down each one you need not go very far and by going through what you're not then you're left with what you are chorus: it's not always necessary to seek in order to find sometimes taking things away leaves you much more defined and if the eyes take in the sights and the ego fills the mind maybe it's better to make yourself metaphorically blind
8.
you know your way around like you've been here before somehow you see a vision that's way too big to ignore and the only lead you follow is the one from inside the arrows of the world just bounce right off your armor plated hide pre chorus: there's something about just making your way with nothing to prove when you're walking the path it's your intensely that makes the earth move chorus: you're cutting a groove you're cutting a groove some take the road less traveled and there's nothing wrong with that if that's the place in one's heart that they can see just where it's at but you're not on a road at all yet you still move just as fast it's like the heavens opened up for you and made it safe to pass pre chorus: there's something about just making your way with nothing to prove when you're walking the path it's your intensely that makes the earth move chorus: you're cutting a groove you're cutting a groove bridge: distractions fade away resistance yields as well complications are simplified by dropping the urge to rebel pre chorus: there's something about just making your way with nothing to prove when you're walking the path it's your intensely that makes the earth move chorus: you're cutting a groove you're cutting a groove you're cutting a groove you're cutting a groove you're cutting a groove you're cutting a groove you're cutting a groove you're cutting a groove
9.
supposing there's a thing you want and your wanting is the very thing that repels the object of your very desire and the closer you think you get to capturing it once and for all the faster it will move farther away from you chorus: then you'll find out that it's so simple without your planning and your intent that as soon as you let it all go suddenly you're content and there it is beside you again so now your words and projections create a burden on the process that slows you down each step you try and take you carry it and soldier on not realizing the power of letting the thing not become a thing at all chorus: then you'll find out that it's so simple without your planning and your intent that as soon as you let it all go suddenly you're content and there it is beside you again bridge: it's not that you should actively care or not care you can't apprehend what's no longer there chorus: then you'll find out that it's so simple without your planning and your intent that as soon as you let it all go suddenly you're content and there it is beside you again
10.
witnesses recall the scene of a river rising up so high a breaching of the levee was just a matter of time as the water came flowing down the scene was looking mighty grim it was finally time for citizens to either sink or swim chorus: and them that had the hunger somehow found a way to get up on dry land and live another day and them that bought the lies were caught out in the rain sleeping through disaster experiencing the pain you can take your directions from mere actors on a set you can disbelieve your own head and accept what you get you can also take it all with a rather large grain of salt and then in the face of drowning it's nobody else's fault chorus: and them that had the hunger somehow found a way to get up on dry land and live another day and them that bought the lies were caught out in the rain sleeping through disaster experiencing the pain
11.
a strange new phenomenon is rising into view affecting the world of physics and everything you do it's a friction like no other that's ever been detected an annoying cellular illness it appears we're all infected chorus: things don't slide like they used to and gravity just doesn't care no, things don't slide like they used to and it doesn't seem fair your salt shaker, your coffee cup your barstool and your table will test your last ounce of patience as they give up being stable chorus: things don't slide like they used to and gravity just doesn't care no, things don't slide like they used to and it doesn't seem fair bridge: so is the universe coming apart separating at every seam? or is it the mother of all illusions manifesting from a dream chorus: things don't slide like they used to and gravity just doesn't care no, things don't slide like they used to and it doesn't seem fair
12.
don't fall down it's what you always say and it's not only literal there are plenty of ways don't fall down cause balance is the key and if you need assistance say the word and it will be chorus: like an invisible hand that reaches out to hold a virtual blanket when it gets too cold and like an unseen shoulder upon which to cry your comfort is everywhere in abundant supply bridge: darkness makes us wonder if we'll make it out alive fearful of the future and if we can survive don't fall down because your strength inspires they look up to you and get the warmth from your fires chorus: like an invisible hand that reaches out to hold a virtual blanket when it gets too cold and like an unseen shoulder upon which to cry your comfort is everywhere in abundant supply chorus: like an invisible hand that reaches out to hold a virtual blanket when it gets too cold and like an unseen shoulder upon which to cry your comfort is everywhere in abundant supply
13.
it was a dark day it was a storm of a storm destruction was imminent yes, it would transform and the images showed people all fearful and tense but on a deeper level none of it made any sense chorus: and did you even trust yourself or did you throw it all away for the cameras and the tears that were rolling on that day yeah, even though it felt unright you could not ignore the sight of a question mark a question mark bridge: so now you've come to a 4-way stop where you've got to let something drop so which way are you gonna go the way you see or the way you know? as compelling as it is it goes right against the grain of a feeling in your gut that's short-circuits your brain chorus: and did you even trust yourself or did you throw it all away for the cameras and the tears that were rolling on that day yeah, even though it felt unright you could not ignore the sight of a question mark a question mark

about

written & recorded in february 2013 for the RPM challenge, these 13 songs are an exorcism to the ego.

FUN FACT: this is my first concept album - and there is no mention in any of the songs of "me", "I" or "mine". i wanted to separate my self from the songs for once!
