  • Compact Disc (CD) + Digital Album

This is my 2020 solo album - 10 songs and awesome original artwork by Jacob Boland! Musically, this is mostly acoustic rock but sometimes it's folk-ish, jazzy, easy listening-y and one song is just too weird to describe using adjectives (it's called FREAKISHLY LARGE KNIFE!).

I wrote the songs, played all instruments, recorded it, engineered it, produced it and got it mastered by the legendary Scott Horton at virtualmixengineer.com .

Includes a free mini-poster inside the CD insert!

nobody can be so perfect so there's no reason to whine you can't be good at everything and flawlessly walk that line so take comfort in the chaos and accept your faulty fate cause there's a chance you'll be wrong but you can also celebrate it's a good time for a bad idea forget who's gonna see ya let's hang it in the galleria it's a good time for a bad, bad idea so why don't we enjoy dessert or just spend the day in bed cause life is there for the living you can behave when you're dead so take comfort in the chaos and accept your faulty fate cause there's a chance you'll be wrong but you can also celebrate it's a good time for a bad idea forget who's gonna see ya let's hang it in the galleria it's a good time for a bad, bad idea I don't mean you should hate yourself or engage in self-destruction this is not a long term fix but a removal of the obstruction it's a good time for a bad idea forget who's gonna see ya let's hang it in the galleria it's a good time for a bad, bad idea

when it starts to go downhill and the words all turn to ice it's natural to seek protection from speech that seems not so nice and the myth was quite foreboding while it kept me on my knees i shouldn't stay out too long or else i'm going to freeze pre ch: but unless you go right through you'll never know what's true even though it makes no sense the payoff will be immense ch: like a beam of sunlight after the storm i felt the cold and it made me warm never thought my heart could transform i felt the cold and it made me warm br: as you live your life in safety atop your tower of babel you think you're so fortified yet it's made you more fragile so i struck out on my own and I had to cut the cord cause going through discomfort gave me a great reward
3.
Heavyface 03:36
i'm feeling twenty pounds lighter since i got rid of heavyface it's almost like i can fly away and arrive at any old place and the world is much cooler with the lightness that i've found goodbye to all of the stifling baggage i no longer carry around chorus: are you suffering from heavyface? with a high degree of pain and grief if you're suffering from heavyface it's about time you found relief it's a sacrifice of coolness to the hipster gods on high for a blissful invisible feeling as they stroke their beards and wonder why bridge: when all the things just weigh you down and you can't take all that abuse then that's the time to turn your back and move forward as you cut 'em loose
4.
i'm not gonna climb the tower today plenty other fish in the sea everybody stepping on everyone except for me chorus: when you can't have it all and you know you're gonna fall that's the time to realize that the tower's too tall i'm not gonna climb the tower today it won't make me any better of a man spending all that energy on nothing is not my plan chorus: when you can't have it all and you know you're gonna fall that's the time to realize that the tower's too tall bridge: the higher you go up off of the ground the greater your chance of crashing back down i'm not gonna climb the tower today i don't need all of that pointless pain i'll spend the afternoon in chill mode it's only sane chorus: when you can't have it all and you know you're gonna fall that's the time to realize that the tower's too tall
5.
you could say i'm a little nervous with the blade that shines in my eye underlying awkwardness and danger are always in the back of my mind so follow me into the kitchen where everything there has its use open the drawer and you might feel the fear that one thing can induce chorus: FREAKISHLY LARGE KNIFE (freakishly large knife) please don't let me get cut or stabbed or gored FREAKISHLY LARGE KNIFE (freakishly large knife) so, at what point does it become a sword? it looks way too big for just a steak like an error in the evolution maybe it's a relic that's left over from medieval times for executions? bridge: all the other knives in the set are the most reasonable size you can get that's a fine line on which i'm steppin' is it flatware or is it a weapon?
6.
Neutralize 03:04
put some weight on one side watch the scale coincide no need to be afraid fulcrum games always played ch: the desire to equalize makes the motion neutralize balance is balanced now later gone who knows how try to stay in one place nail it down just in case ch: the desire to equalize makes the motion neutralize br: sit still, comply sit still, and die sit still, deny sit still, but why ch: the desire to equalize makes the motion neutralize
7.
again you got your mind blown the beginning looks like the end yesterday is coming fast and the future has passed you again your calendar's all mixed up it never fails to shock and amaze the numbers are all out of whack and the weeks fit into the days ch: let me be your time travel agent tell me what year would you like it to be let me be your time travel agent we'll go farther than the mind's eye can see your wish is my command so let's go back to our beginning and we won't ever truly know which way the clock hands are spinning the moments from long ago that we wished would never end can last an eternity now that we both can transcend ch: let me be your time travel agent tell me what year would you like it to be let me be your time travel agent we'll go farther than the mind's eye can see br: and all those sights we'd forgotten about and all those wonders that would arise can manifest again just like old times right before our eyes
8.
i fell off a diving board when i was six years old straight into the water and the water was so cold shock went through my body and it gave me quite a scare i attained enlightenment while i was floating there chorus: such is the flavor such is the jest such is the variety such is the zest going to the theater was a thing they said was fun once the singing started then it made me want to run vocals flying through the air and aiming right at me i just closed my eyes so that i would not have to see chorus such is the flavor such is the jest such is the variety such is the zest traveling by train i headed northeast to the coast looking out the window i could swear i saw a ghost after the conductor glided from the sleeping car i decided railway life was freakishly bizarre chorus such is the flavor such is the jest such is the variety such is the zest

You Are 03:12
you are, you are, you are my shining beacon of hope you are, you are, you are the colors in my kaleidoscope you are, you are, you are the comforter that's always nearby you are, you are, you are the swirling patterns up in the sky ch: i just can't imagine all of the things you are, you are, you are and i'm constantly inspired by who you are, you are, you are you are, you are, you are a future that i so want to be you are, you are, you are the first page of a mystery ch: i just can't imagine all of the things you are, you are, you are and i'm constantly inspired by who you are, you are, you are br: are you, are you, are you crossing back over the line are you, are you, are you willing to be all mine ch: i just can't imagine all of the things you are, you are, you are and i'm constantly inspired by who you are, you are, you are
10.
Zip It 03:38
the smartest people exist in a setting so divisible they're hidden like a ninja the art of being invisible chorus: motives need not be heard when you zip it, zip it actions are louder than words when you zip it, zip it doers just do and sayers just say decibels chase intellect away and while the arrows take flight the chess pieces follow the script banging the drums like thunder while the players keep it zipped chorus: motives need not be heard when you zip it, zip it actions are louder than words when you zip it, zip it doers just do and sayers just say decibels chase intellect away ask the ones who say little if you truly want the real deal but be careful what you wish for and never mind how you feel chorus: motives need not be heard when you zip it, zip it actions are louder than words when you zip it, zip it doers just do and sayers just say decibels chase intellect away

about

10 songs written and recorded between late 2019 and the start of the great pandemic of 2020 (around March 15th). Many of these songs contain nuggets of wisdom that can assist the listener in finding personal happiness, though I do have a more succinct and obvious album for that ("This Way To Happiness"). And then there's that song about a knife, which is pure silliness.

about

chris hardy world Edgefield, South Carolina

I write songs myself. I record them all myself. I play all the instruments (including real actual drums) myself. I sound like a band yet I am just one little guy. I do everything myself - the only job you have is to listen and enjoy! Isn't that easy?
